I have known the owner, Mr. Temple for years. As long as I've known him painting has been a part of his story. Him, his brother and father. He's been around paint since he was a child. I'd be surprised if you have an idea, he has not seen it and, likely done it. He is a good man, for his family, community and is someone I trust implicitly. I am also a contractor and when I have a client who needs paint this, is who I refer them to. He is honest and genuine and cannot be outsourced.

FAQs

The best way to get in touch is to call or text (541) 951-2316. We provide personal attention to every customer.

According to thisoldhouse.com, the most important variable in determining your interior painting cost is the size of your home. More surface area means more materials and labor costs. Overall, the total cost is often between $1 and $4 per square foot of floor space in your home.

The choice of hiring a professional or painting your own home is up to you. If you DIY your paint project, you will save on money and have more control over the process. Hiring a professional painter will save you time and effort, and the results are often better than at-home jobs.

We provide services in Gresham, Troutdale, Happy Valley, Oregon City, Clackamas, Fairview, Medford, Central Point, White City and Ashland Oregon.

When it comes to exterior painting, not all surfaces (called substrates) are created equal—and neither are the expectations for how long paint should last. A well-done job with high-quality products can give you years of protection and beauty—but longevity and warranties vary depending on the surface material, climate, maintenance, and many other factors.

Let’s break it down 👇

🏠 Different Substrates and Paint Longevity

🪵 Cedar Siding (Natural Wood)
• Lifespan: ~7–10 years (with proper prep and maintenance)
• Paint System: Oil-based primer + acrylic latex topcoats
• Challenges: Tannin bleed, wood movement, cracking, peeling due to expansion/contraction, moisture intrusion
• Maintenance: High — annual inspections and regular touch-ups are key

🧱 Stucco
• Lifespan: ~8–12 years
• Paint System: Masonry primer + flat or elastomeric acrylic coating
• Challenges: Cracking, efflorescence (salt deposits), moisture absorption
• Maintenance: Medium — inspect for cracks, clean occasionally

🏗 Fiber Cement (e.g. Hardie Board)
• Lifespan: ~10–15 years
• Paint System: 100% acrylic latex, often no primer required on pre-primed boards
• Challenges: Caulking failure at joints, UV fading over time
• Maintenance: Low to medium — longer cycles between coats if caulk is maintained

🪵 Engineered Wood (e.g. LP SmartSide)
• Lifespan: ~8–12 years
• Paint System: Oil or bonding primer + latex topcoat
• Challenges: Swelling on edges, joint movement, primer breakdown at cuts if not sealed
• Maintenance: Medium — focus on ends and cuts, re-caulk as needed

🔩 Aluminum or Vinyl Siding
• Lifespan: ~10–15 years
• Paint System: Specialty bonding primer (if needed) + vinyl-safe acrylic coating
• Challenges: Peeling if not prepped properly, color fading in sun
• Maintenance: Low — mostly cosmetic fading over time

🔁 Why Paint Fails Sooner (Even on a Good Job)
• Sunlight breaks down paint binders, especially on south/west-facing walls
• Moisture behind siding causes bubbling, peeling, and cracking
• Improper caulking allows water intrusion at joints and trim
• Neglected maintenance (mold, dirt, and UV exposure) shortens the life of any paint system

🧰 How to Maintain Your Paint Job

To get the most from your exterior paint investment:
• ✅ Wash your siding every 1–2 years
• ✅ Re-caulk joints and seams as needed
• ✅ Touch-up exposed trim or horizontal areas early
• ✅ Inspect annually for peeling, cracks, and movement
• ✅ Plan for partial recoats at year 5–7 to delay full repaints
• ✅ Expect full repaint cycles around 7–15 years, depending on conditions

❌ Why Warranties Are Rare or Limited

Many painters do not offer long-term warranties, especially on natural wood or older homes, and here’s why:
1. Wood moves, bleeds, and fails naturally. No paint or primer can stop cedar or redwood from expanding, cracking, or weeping tannins over time.
2. Most failures are environmental—not workmanship. Paint won’t stick if moisture builds up behind siding or if sunlight breaks down caulking and sealants.
3. Homeowners often don’t maintain it. Without regular cleaning, sealing, or inspections, even the best job will fail early.
4. Industry standards (like PCA) define quality at completion—not longevity. There’s no universal guarantee on how long paint must last, because every house, product, and environment is different.

✅ So What’s Realistic?
• A solid exterior paint job on most homes should last 7–15 years, depending on the surface, climate, and how well it’s maintained.
• Warranties, when offered, are usually 1–3 years and limited to specific substrates like stucco or fiber cement.
• For wood exteriors, painters typically don’t offer warranties—not because they don’t stand behind their work, but because the substrate itself is unstable.

📌 Bottom Line:
Paint is a protective coating—not a permanent shield. With the right prep, quality products, and care, your home’s exterior can stay beautiful and protected for years. But like anything exposed to the elements, maintenance matters, and expectations should match the surface you’re painting.
